  • Del Morado al Negro 2016

    From purple to black. Gender violence through Alicante's graphic press 2006-2016

    From 25 November to 11 December - Santa Faz Square, Alicante

    The 10th edition of this exhibition will include an updated selection comprising 32 images printed in large canvases. They show the reality of the most extreme cases of gender violence, with around 70 women being murdered each year in Spain by men. The exhibition will open on 25 November, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

  • Brain Conferences

    Brain Conferences: a series of events to be held in paralel to the exhibition "Inestablos", by Lidó Rico

    28, 29 and 30 November - Alicante City University Venue and MUA

    Brain Conferences, a series of lectures about art, communication and the human brain, will be held in paralel to "Inestablos", the new exhibition by Lidó Rico at MUA. Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 at the University Venue: "Museums as vessels for emotions and the power of art as a therapy against Alzheimer's disease" and "The social perception of epilepsy" (at 8.15 p.m.)  And on Wednesday at MUA: "Social networks and addiction" (at 10 a.m.), "Neuromarketing: reading the consumer's mind" (at 11:30 a.m.), and "Genoarchitectures:  addictions embodied" (at 5 p.m.) and "Do emotions have a history?" (at 7 p.m.).

    Exhibition "Women and science. 13 names to change the world"

    Until 9 December - at the Hall in Lecture Building II 

    The University Institute for Gender Studies Research (JUIEG) has organised the exhibition "Women and science. 13 names to change the world", an initiative created by Research chair Tomás Pascual Sanz and the National Research Centre on Human Evolution (CENIEH) that shows the (often altruistic) research work carried out by women. The driving force of their work is knowledge, understood as product generated by humans, for humans.

    "Inestablos", nueva exposición de Lidó Rico en el MUA

    Hasta el 8 de enero - MUA - 19:00 horas

    Lidó Rico inaugura una sorprendente muestra en la que une ciencia y arte para presentar el complejo mundo de las adicciones, con piezas que parten de cerebros humanos reales. La exposición, que se podrá disfrutar hasta el 8 de enero, es fruto de la colaboración del artista con el neurofisiólogo Luei Y. Tseng y el neurobiólogo José Luis Ferrán.

    Exhibition "El Infinito Borges" to premiere at the University of Alicante Museum

    Opening on 23 November - MUA - 1 p.m.

    El Infinito Borges is a tribute to author Jorge Luis Borges to mark the thirtieth anniversary of his death. The exhibition will cover all his life and literary production. Visitors will discover different paths where new directions constantly open, taking them on a journey through Borges' own universe, for this author is infinite, and as such there is a special infinite with his name on it.  The exhibition will be open until 10 January.

  • monument als Màrtirs de la Llibertat d'Alacant peq

    UA dedicates an exhibition to the Monument to the Martyrs of Freedom in Alicante

    Until 23 December - Aifos Exhibition Hall (Faculty of Arts 3)

    Between 1907 and 1939, the Monument to the Martyrs of Freedom was a landmark of democratic memory in the city of Alicante. It was destroyed by Franco's authorities during the post-war era. Now UA's exhibition "A democratic memory landmark: the postcards of the Monument to the Martyrs of Freedom in Alicante" will celebrate this monument. It can be visited in Aifos Exhibition Hall on Campus.

  • Exposición Litófonos

    Ciencia y arte se unen en la exposición "Litófonos. Los sonidos de las piedras"

    Hasta el 14 de noviembre - Centro Municipal de las Artes, Plaza Quijano, Alicante

    De la artista mexicana Yoliztli Villanueva, la muestra acoge esculturas sonoras creadas con la colaboración del geólogo y profesor del Departamento Ciencias de la Tierra y del Medio Ambiente de la Universidad de Alicante, Hugo Corbí. Unas treinta figuras, elaboradas con diferentes tipos de rocas -sedimentarias, volcánicas, metamórficas, etc.- forman parte del conjunto de la exposición.
