PERSONAL VIEW ON THE PALESTINE-ISRAELI CONFLICT

On February 1 the University Venue in Alicante presents To die in Jerusalem, directed by Hilla Medalia, part of the Documentary of the Month Cycle. This initiative provides viewers with films unavailable in commercial cinemas and which have been awarded at international festivals. The films will be shown on the first Friday of every month all throughout 2008 in two sessions, from 20.00 and 22.00 h.

The documentary will be in OSV (Hebrew, Arab and English) with subtitles in Catalan.

To die in Jerusalem (Israel – US, 2007) provides a personal view on the Palestine-Israeli context, seen through the eyes of two families suffering over the loss of their 17-year old daughters. The Israeli girl is the victim of the attack and the Palestinian is a suicide terrorist. The documentary offers a personal perspective on the strife which often gets overshadowed by political considerations. While one of the deaths has been an act of will, the other is a chance happening. Even so, both girls were victims of one of the longest, most complicated and unsettling conflicts of our times.

Free entrance limited to hall capacity.
