FELLINI'S NEOREALIST FILMS

In April, the Original Sound Version Cycle is dedicated to Federico Fellini’s films from the 50s which belong to Italian Neorealism and which are, according to Israel Gil, coordinator of the UA Cinema Club, ‘not his most known films, but perhaps his best’.

On April 8 and 10 we will show Lo SceiccoBianco (The White Sheik) -1952, starring Alberto Sordi and Giulietta Masina. The comedy narrates the story of a provincial couple with bourgeois pretensions who travel to Rome for their honeymoon. On April 15 and 17, it’s I Vitelloni (The Young and the Passionate) – 1953, a drama set in a small town on the Italian coast of the Adriatic sea, where everybody is kind and people do their best to succeed at work. However, five youths destroy this harmony: none of them has ever worked and they are ashamed of it. Finally, on April 22 and 24 we will show Le Notti di Cabiria (The Nights of Cabiria) – 1957, with Giulietta Masina. This film, which received an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, tells the story of a prostitute who dreams about meeting her true love, a man who would change her life around and to whom she could surrender body and soul.

Venue and time: Centro 14, 19.00 and 21.00h.

On Tuesdays, the films will be introduced by a UA professor or by a film critic.

Free entrance limited to hall capacity.
