A SYMBOLIC AND EXISTENTIAL JOURNEY WITH 'LA DONA IRREAL'

The existential change of a woman after his son's death is the subject of the latest creation of Valencian theatre company Bambalina in 'La dona irreal', an intimist reflection directed by Jaume Policarpo, which will be performed on 4 March, at 20:00 hours, at the UA's Auditorium, within the framework of the acts on 8 March, International Women's Day.

The title corresponds to the state of irreality which the woman enters after the tragic event; a state in which, in some way, 'she reaches a higher level of understanding of the world, which helps her get over the painful event', Policarpo states. 'This way, her son's death helps her see the life from another view, accept that death is what gives life a meaning'.

With a metaphorical approach that avoids rational understanding, the company creates a symbolic journey in which 'the audience must interpret the profound meaning of the story'. Concerning the form, Policarpo seeks a staging with nowadays and contemporary aesthetics to surprise the audience, specially youngsters.

Another strong point has been the effort by actors Cristina García, Carol Linuesa, David Durán and Josep Mª Zapater, who, according to the director, have done a great perfomance. 'It has been a challenge for them, because they have done a very intense introspection job and they have got personally involved'. All these features make 'La dona irreal' an original staging which penetrates through the senses and which has been warmly welcomed by the audience.
