'Puppets and shadow theatre is not a language only suitable for the children's world. It is still used today in Asia to stage religious
legends and traditions, and in the West takes part of the scenic arts in all its numerous possibilities, while keeping its roots in the
most firm tradition of popular theatre: direct, spontaneous and from the street', expains Rosa Fraj, teacher of the workshop 'El Llenguatge de les Titelles i les Ombres', included in the courses offered by the Secretariat for Culture of the UA.

This workshop will be carried out from 16 February to 20 May in order to understand and study in depth this art's important social role and
the puppets' power when it comes to activate emotions and imagination. The course will analyse several aspects such as the puppets'
dramatic role and the different archetypes; the preparation for actors: voice, movement and technique; the choice of the story that
will be told, the approach of the stage and the choice of the technique; the manipulation of puppets and, lastly, the narrative movement
of the shadows and the expression and movement in the game of shadows.
