HAVANA IN BLACK AND WHITE

The Vice President for Curricular Activities, Josefina Bueno, and the director of the MUA, Mauro Hernández, open the photographic exhibition Havana by José Antonio Robés on October 5th. The Room 365 of the MUA will house the exhibition, consisting of 80 photographs in black and white of different places in Havana.

The artist has pointed out that the exhibition is "a photographic report that talks about the life, the strength, the beauty and the art" in Havana city, "one of the most beautiful cities in the world". During 2009, Havana has been shown in the National Library of Cuba, an exhibition organized by the Spanish Embassy in Cuba and Sol Meliá, Meliá Cohiba, Tryp Habana Libre, Meliá Habana. It will be in the MUA until November 21th.

Robés was the official photographer in the worldwide premiere of the opera Don Quijote, by Cristóbal Halffter, during 2009 in the Royal Theatre in Madrid. The photographic report was published in March 2004 under the name of Así se hace una ópera. DON QUIJOTE by C. Halffter. Being in the Academia de España in Rome, in autumn 2002, has permited him develop and interpret new tendencies of photography from the basis of the photographic report as photographic work. During autumn 2003, Robés went back to Rome thanks to the Instituto Cervantes and the Escuela Española de Historia y Arqueología del CSIC in order to present the Spanish archeological excavation abroad.
