OPENING THE UNIVERSITY WALLS TO THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF ALICANTE

The University Venue in Alicante receives this year the second edition of the conference series Abrir los Muros del Aula al Patrimonio Cultural de Alicante (Opening the University Walls to the Cultural Heritage of Alicante), which is organized by the Observatorio de la Cultura de Alicante. Emilio Soler Pascual will open the series talking about Jorge Juan, a scientist of international renown born in Novelda. The aim of the series is to make the materials and the resources of the culture available to the professors.

This year, the series will focus specifically on the important figures and the most emblematic monuments of the historic and cultural heritage in Alicante. It will also focus on those topics that could not be discussed last year. Besides the speeches, which will take place at the University Venue at 8:15pm, visits have been organized to those places related to the topics.

Apart from Jorge Juan, it will be analysed the figure of Emilio Varela, a very significant painter and one of the most important artists of our artistic heritage. This year, the schedule will include an analysis of the Second Spanish Republic and the Civil War taking into account the situations, important figures and places of Alicante.
