Until 30 November, a new exhibition on the scientist Marie Curie will be held at the ground floor hall of the Faculty of Sciences, Building 2. This showing is part of a set of activities organised by the UA Faculty of Sciences to celebrate St. Albertus Magnus feast day, patron saint of Sciences.

‘Marie Curie, 1867-1934’ is a travelling exhibition loaned by the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC) which created it to pay tribute to Marie Curie’s outstanding career on the occasion of the International Year of Chemistry and the one hundredth anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Marie Sklodowska-Curie. She was a pioneer: she was the first woman to get a Doctoral Degree in Physics in France and to be appointed as a professor at the Sorbonne in Paris. She also was the only woman to win a double Nobel Prize, and to be buried in the Pantheon in Paris on her own merits.

The exhibition, organised by the Curie Museum and the Curie Institute in Paris and supported by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), was loaned to the Institute of Catalan Studies to make the Catalan version, show it at the Alicante University Venue and coordinate the exhibition itinerary.

Given the importance of Marie Sklodowska-Curie and her exceptional combination of scientific abilities and human values, the Institute of Catalan Studies shows the exhibition itinerary at the educational institutions, so everybody can learn the main facts of her life and career

The showing is divided in four chronological periods, each one made up of three exhibition panels: Warsaw-Paris (1867-1895), A common work (1895-1906), Misfortunes and successes (1906-1918) and An international figure (1918-1934).
