On 2 December at 8 p.m., the Auditorium will hold a concert by artist Mara Aranda, who will be presenting her new album Mare vostrum. Tickets are €10 and they can be purchased online at, in Compás library, and in the Auditorium an hour before the show begins. However, UA students and Alumni can collect free tickets by showing their University Card at the Cultural Information Point of the University of Alicante Museum (MIC). As tickets are limited, students can only pick up one per University Card.

Singer and songwriter Mara Aranda is considered as one of the most international voices of the Mediterranean. On the stage, she will be accompanied by artists Jota Martínez (citole, hurdy-gurdy and bouzouki), Abel García (bağlama and hurdy-gurdy) and Sascha Gotowtschikov (traditional Oriental percussion).

The band was awarded Best Folk Album 2009 in the Ovidi Montllor Awards for Dèria, and they also stayed on the top 10 of the World Music Charts Europe for four straight months. Their new album, Mare Vostrum, is described by the band as “an album where inspiration, ethnic influence and emotion come together, just like the waters that flow from the rivers into our shared Mediterranean Sea”. Their work revolves around Mediterranean tradition, and through it they have achieved to internationalise a language of their own.

It is worth mentioning that this album has been recently awarded Best Folk Album in the 2015 Ovidi Montllor Awards.
