4th edition of the Master's Degree in Classic Guitar Playing

On Friday 8 January, the 4th Edition of the Master’s Degree in Classic Guitar Playing will begin with an opening ceremony presided over by UA President Manuel Palomar and by the President of the Provincial Government, César Sánchez. The event will take place in UA’s Alicante City Venue (San Fernando, 40) at 6 p.m.. Juan Antonio Roche, Director of the Master’s Degree, and Academic Director Ignacio Rodes, together with a representative of the Master’s Alumni Association will also give a speech at the opening ceremony. Right afterwards, some students who took part in last year’s edition of the Master’s Degree will offer a guitar recital.

Ciclo guitarra ADDA

As part of this year’s new edition, the Provincial Government will organise the usual ADDA Classical Guitar Cycle, which will take place from January to June and will offer seven concerts performed by distinguished international musicians in collaboration with lecturers of the Master’s.

This edition’s programme will open on 9 January with a concert by David Russell, a Scottish guitarist settled in Spain. On 6 February, Italian player Stefano Grondona (which is also a lecturer in this edition of the Master’s will play in the second concert, whereas Ignacio Rodes will perform on 27 February. On 12 March, it will be Fabio Zannon’s turn, and brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad will perform in a concert held on 2 April. Last but not least, on 15 May, Cuban artist settled in Baltimore, Manuel Barruenco, will play a tribute concert in order to pay homage to Enrique Granados and mark one hundred years since he died. The programme will come to an end on 5 June with the performance of Paul O’Dette, who will play the Renaissance lute.

Tickets can be purchased on Instanticket for €15. These activities are held within the framework of a multidisciplinary project fostered by the Valencian Community Employment Foundation, the Alicante Provincial Government Auditorium (ADDA), the University of Alicante and Alicante Town Council.
