Cinema in the Original Version at the San Fernando 40 University Venue

Alicante, 16 December 2016

Translated by María Miró Maestre

UA Film Club will continue with three new film cycles at the San Fernando 40 University Venue (40 San Fernando street) for the second term of academic year 16/17. The first cycle will begin on 21 February, and it will focus on Japanese director Naomi Kawase. The programme will be completed with the other two cycles: El color combina muy bien con el blanco y negro (Colour suits black and white pretty well), to be held between March and April; and Cuando ella no está viva (When she's not alive), in May.

The aim of this cycle, which is already a tradition in our University, is to delve into the ins and outs of Cinema through the analysis of the selected films, with a previous presentation by experts (critics from Alicante and UA teachers) and a discussion after the screening. Since the films are shown in the original version, this workshop can also be interesting for those wishing to improve their language skills.

Entrance is free up to venue capacity. For those students interested in getting a certificate, it is compulsory to register in the cultural workshop within which this activity is held, and to attend at least 8 of the 10 films. Students' performance will be assessed by means of an assignment where they will express their opinion about 8 of the films screened. It will be evaluated by the coordinators Israel Gil and Raúl García.

Sessions will take place on Tuesdays at 7.30 p.m., as usual.

Three films starring a... Not-alive woman. No, we do not refer to vampires (like in Nosferatu), although the leading actor in "Rebeca" (Alfred Hitchcock, 1940) is actually dead. In "Her", the female role is represented by a software... With the voice of Scarlett Johansson. On another level, Berlanga chose a blow-up doll to be the protagonist of his film... And it was more sensible than its owner.
