Children's films in Xixona

Translated by Alejandro Puertas
Xixona University Venue and the University of Alicante Film Club have jointly organised a children’s film cycle. The screening of the movies will take place at Dalt Cinema every Sunday from 22 April to 13 May at 6 p.m. Entrance will be free for everybody, limited to hall capacity.

The films are the following:

  • Cars (2006) - in Catalan. Sunday 22 April
Lightning McQueen aspires to be a race champion. When he is about to be successful, famous and to get everything else he had dreamt of, he takes an unexpected detour at the lonely and dusty Route 66. His arrogant attitude fades away when he finds a lost town where he remembers what really matters in life.
  • The Jungle Book (2016) - in Spanish. Sunday 29 April
Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a boy raised by wolves in the jungle, is forced to leave the only place he can call his home to undertake a fascinating journey of self-discovery. It is a new adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s novel.

  • Zootopia (2016) - in Catalan Sunday 13 MayoZootopia, a modern metropolis inhabited by mammals, is a very unique town. Made up of habitat neighbourhoods such as ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it is a melting pot where animals from every environment live together. It does not matter what you are, in fact, you can be whatever you want, from the biggest of the elephants to the tiniest of the shrews. Yet, the optimistic agent Judy Hopps will discover that being the first bunny on a police service full of tough and big animals is not easy. However, as she is determined to prove that she is worthy, she quickly accepts a case, even though that means working with Nick Wilde, a very talkative and cheating fox, in order to solve the mystery.

  • Finding Dory (2016) - in Catalan Sunday 13 May
One year after the events of “Finding Nemo”, Dory is living a happy life with Marvin and his son Nemo. However, during a trip to see how the stingrays migrate back home, Dory’s memory problems seem to disappear for a second. At that moment, she suddenly remembers that she has a family and decides to set off to find her long-lost parents.
