25th anniversary of UA Tourism studies

This 2019/2020 academic year marks the 25th anniversary of the UA Tourism Studies. This was made possible by the institutional collaboration of the UA and the former Tourism Institute of Valencia (ITVA). Before this project started, the three-year undergraduate degree in Technical Business and Tourist Activities (TEAT) in Alicante was assigned to the Official Tourism School in Madrid.  The first step of this process was the creation of an official tourism school in the Valencia Region. An agreement stated that UA would be in charge of the teaching activity of this school, to which all the private schools in the region that had the degree in TEAT were also assigned.

The venue of this Official Tourism School where these studies were taught was the CDT building on the Tossal hill (Alicante). This was under the authority of the Cavanilles Higher Tourism Studies Foundation, created by the Valencia Region Government (GV), along with the universities of Alicante, Valencia (EG) and Castellón (UJI).  This strong collaboration between UA and GV tourism started because UA was already significant in the scene of tourism research. It was also the result of UA being one of the first universities in Spain to offer Master’s degree in Tourism, which was coordinated by the Institute of Tourism in Valencia (ITVA). This cooperation has been lately increased with new collaboration agreements.
