Spanish foundation of the Mercedarian Order

This Mercedarian foundation gathers all the social work from the Mercedarians of Aragon.  This order was founded by Saint Peter Nolasco in 1218 with the aim of freeing the Christians held captive by Muslims and Mediterranean piracy. Their concern today is the liberation of new forms of slavery, such as prisoners, dysfunctional families, battered women, sick people or destitute children. The money raised will be used for the foundation programmes focused on helping imprisoners and their process of social reintegration. They try to avoid, as much as possible, imprisonment effects while promoting rehabilitation measures. In the same way, their mission is also to organise activities to prevent and avoid future criminal actions
